Ernie the Love Dog Needs a New Home Urgently
Ernie is a really smart, affectionate and devoted dog. He has a lot of energy, and loves a good walk every day, as well as to fetch and play. He is a purebred American Pit Bull Terrier. He is 4 years old, very healthy, neutered and up to date on his vaccinations.
Ernie is having to be rehomed by his owner and her family. Tragically, his owner, who loves Ernie dearly, has developed severe, debilitating Arthritis. She simply cannot provide Ernie with the care and exercise he needs and deserves. She an her family are heartbroken to have to make this difficult decision. They are very hopeful that a wonderful, active family will offer Ernie a loving, forever home - and be open to keeping in touch so that Ernie can still be a small part of their lives.
Ernie loves children, but is not great with other dogs. He has never been around cats. His perfect home will be one with a securely fenced yard, where he can be an only pet. He would be just fine living with an active single, couple or family with older children.

What are your pet's favorite toys, foods, activities? Ernie loves balls (playing fetch), cloth chew toys, and Elk bones. He enjoys long walks, but again this has been difficult to provide for him given my mom's fragile state.
If possible, please tell us a funny, cute or heartwarming story about your pet: When my mom first adopted Ernie, she would take him out for his morning walks and bathroom time. About a week after she adopted him, he must have caught on to the fact that my mom was picking up the newspaper on her way in every morning. Since then, when she brings him outside, he would bring in the newspaper and plop it down in the foyer. It was adorable!
For What Reason(s) are you needing to rehome your pet? My mother has been diagnosed with severe arthritis and can no longer provide him with the daily walks he needs.
Please describe what you are looking for in an adoptive family/home for your pet: I think the ideal owner(s) for Ernie would be a younger (age 30s-40s) person/people with energy who love to be active. He/she would need to be okay in just owning one dog as Ernie does not get along with other dogs. We do not know if he gets along with cats or other animals, however. We are looking for someone who provides as much love as my mother has for the past 4 years and who wants to receive love back! Ernie is such a good boy and will warm your heart, so we just want someone who can love him and provide him with a good home.
What supplies and accessories will come with your pet? Crate, toys, and left-over food, collar, leash.
